Every website on Membership Unlimited shares our web address, and every email goes out through our sending service. If one account breaks the rules, the address can get blocked or emails can land in spam for everyone. So these rules are part of our terms, and they cover everything in your account: your website, members' area, community, sales pages, emails and anything you sell.
Things you can't sell or offer
- Anything illegal where you or your buyers live, or a service that breaks the law.
- Scams, get-rich-quick schemes, pyramid schemes, and promises of earnings you can't back up.
- Adult or sexual content or services.
- Weapons, drugs (including legal highs and anything sold as a medicine without a licence), gambling, betting or lotteries.
- Claims that something cures, treats or prevents an illness, or health advice that needs a qualification you don't have.
- Anything that needs a licence, registration or insurance you don't have (for example financial advice, or some therapies).
- Content that is hateful, threatens or harasses anyone, or encourages harm.
- Anything involving children that isn't appropriate. We report this to the police straight away.
- Other people's courses, books, music, photos or videos that you don't have the rights to share or sell.
Payments
Your members pay through your own Stripe or PayPal account, so their rules apply too. Don't sell anything on their lists of businesses they don't allow:
If Stripe or PayPal close your account, you'll need to sort it out with them.
Emails
- Only email people who agreed to hear from you, or who bought from you and can unsubscribe.
- Never upload a bought, rented or borrowed list, or addresses copied from websites or groups.
- Every email has an unsubscribe link. Don't remove it, hide it or ask people to email you to leave. People who unsubscribe are taken off straight away.
- Say who you are, and don't use a misleading subject line or "from" name.
- If lots of people mark your emails as spam, or lots of addresses bounce, we pause your sending while we look.
Honest selling
- No fake reviews, fake testimonials or made-up numbers of members or sales.
- No countdown timers or "only 3 left" messages that aren't true. If a timer says the price goes up at midnight, it must.
- Don't pretend to be another person or business, or copy their website or logo.
Keeping everyone safe
- No viruses, harmful files, or links to them.
- No pages that try to collect people's passwords, card details or bank details (phishing).
- Don't try to get round our security, see anyone else's information, or overload the service.
What we do if something's wrong
Most problems are mistakes, so we usually start by talking to you.
- A warning. We email you, say what's wrong and give you time to put it right.
- Pausing your emails. If your emails cause complaints or bounces, we stop sending until it's fixed.
- Pausing your website. Your website and members' area show a "closed for now" page until it's sorted. Nothing is deleted.
- Closing your account. For serious or repeated problems. You can still download your members list, unless the law stops us.
In urgent cases (anything illegal, harm to children, phishing or harmful files, or something putting the service at risk for everyone) we pause straight away and tell you afterwards. We may also have to tell the police or another authority.
Reporting a website
Every owner's website and members' area has a "Report this site" link at the bottom. Use it to tell us about anything on this page. You don't need an account, and you don't have to give your name. You can also email support@membershipunlimited.com.
If you think we've got it wrong
Email support@membershipunlimited.com within 30 days and tell us why. Someone who wasn't part of the first decision will look at it again and reply within 10 working days.
